Lord and Lady of Aberdeen
In 1891 The Lord and Lady of Aberdeen were the most prominent citizens of the Okanagan. When the Lord and Lady gave a ball, everyone in town was invited. Because the Lady was not prejudice to class distinction everyone was welcome. There arrival was an exciting occurrence The Lord of Aberdeen was met by the Major and Alderman when he arrived to buy The Coldstream Ranch.
The Lord and Lady of Aberdeen gave the Okanagan Fruit Industry the recognition and boost the fruit industry deserved, at this point the cash crop was wheat and that was about to change. Lord of Aberdeen intended to promote development by subdividing part of the Cold Stream Ranch for sale: ten-forty acre lots. Once this was achieved The Coldstream Ranch became the first commercial orchard in the Okanagan. This is a moment to be marked in time and continues to thrive today with export, retail and wholesale as a huge world market for the Okanagan.
