Penticton Advisory Committees

Agriculture Advisory Committee:
 
The Agriculture Advisory Committee consists of nine voting member's one Council representative, one representative of Economic Development Advisory Committee, Seven members of the Agricultural Community Development Community this group is selected by The City of Penticton Council for a one year term. The Agricultural Committee's function is to recommend land use, regulatory and economic development issues pertaining to the Agricultural Economy in order to enhance and promote business opportunities. The City of Penticton Agriculture Committee acts as a liaison between Economic Development Committee and the Agricultural community. The Committee communicates with the Director of Engineering and Development on issues in relation to irrigation, drainage, roads or other Penticton municipal services affecting agricultural lands.

Development Services Advisory Committee:
 
The City of Penticton Development Services Advisory Committee consists of nine voting members one Council representative, one Chamber of Commerce representative, one Development Community representative, one PIDA member, one Canadian Home Builders' Association South Okanagan member, and four members of the Community on the basis of their knowledge or interest in Community Development issues. The responsibility of the committee personnel is to review Development Services Bylaws, procedures and policies. Also any delegated work that comes down from the City of Penticton.

Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee:
 
The Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee consists of eleven members two BIA representatives, two Chamber of Commerce representatives, one Penticton Parking Advisory Committee representative and six members of the Community based on their knowledge or interest in the downtown core of the City of Penticton. The downtown Committee mandate is to review development strategy and develop a one to three year long term plan pertaining to street improvement, traffic, upgrading, parking and land use controls and incentives. This membership is by Council for a one year term.

Emergency and Protective Services Advisory Committee:
 
The Emergency and Protective Services Advisory Committee consists of seven members one Council, one senior's Advisory, one Committee for Disabled, one Social Advisory Committee and three members of the community based on knowledge and interest in Emergency and Protective Services. The responsibility of this membership is to execute and monitor emergency plan, fire suppression, fire prevention and education, first response and dispatch, policing and crime prevention. The City of Penticton appoints these seven members appointed by Council for one year term.

Heritage Advisory Committee:
 
The Heritage Advisory Committee consists of nine voting members one Council, one Downtown Revitalization Advisory Committee, seven members from the community based on the knowledge or interest in heritage conservation. The responsibility of this membership is to relay all matters pertaining to heritage including resource, inventory, development priority, and to represent Heritage pertaining to resources and funds towards heritage projects.

Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee:
 
The Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee consists of eleven members one council, one member of Penticton School Board Trustees, two students and seven members of community based on knowledge or interest in community parks, recreation and culture. This membership is to report in respect to sports, arts, leisure, cultural, heritage, parks and recreation facilities activities to the City Council of Penticton. The membership will recommend rules and regulations, construction, maintenance, management and arbitration.

Public Art Advisory Committee:
 
The Public Art Advisory Committee consists of nine members one council, eight citizens based on knowledge and interests in professional artists, designers, curators, historians, educators, conservators, crafts people, urban designers architects, landscapers, developers and art council representatives. The responsibility of this membership is to represent the Public Art Committee to develop public art programs and support this by applying for grants or funds. Promoting Public Art projects and selecting quality art for the City of Penticton to own. Supply an annual report to Council for review and implementation.

Seniors Advisory Committee:
 
The Seniors Advisory Committee consists of thirteen member's one council, one disabled representative, one social development, ten members of the community based on knowledge and interest pertaining to senior's quality of life. The responsibility of the Committee is to identify needs of seniors, communication with the senior citizens in relation to programs and policies to ensure the needs of seniors are first and foremost.

Social Development Advisory Committee:
 
The Social Development Advisory Committee consists of eleven member's one council, one disabled representative, one senior's representative, one Penticton Indian Band representative, and seven members of the community based on knowledge and interest toward community social issues. The membership responsibility is to bring forward issues responding to social needs in the community by advising social planning matters for the well being and raising awareness of social needs.

Transportation Advisory Committee:
 
The Transportation Advisory Committee consists of nine members appointed by City of Penticton Council one council representative, one senior advisory committee, one disabled representative, one student representative, one Penticton transit representative and four members of the Community based on knowledge and interest in transit and bicycle mode of transportation. The responsibilities of the membership are to report to the City of Penticton council on all matters regarding alternate forms of transportation.
